【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedprimarilyforusebygeotechnicalengineersandtechniciansandgeologistsinthefield,wherethesoilprofileorsamplesfromitmaybeobservedinarelativelyundisturbed(frozen)state.Itmayalsobeusedinthelaboratorytodescribetheconditionofrelativelyundisturbedsoilsamplesthathavebeenmaintainedinafrozenconditionfollowingtheiracquisitioninthefield.Thepracticeisnotintendedtobeusedindescribingunfrozensoilsordisturbedsamplesoffrozensoil.1.1Thispracticepresentsaprocedureforthedescriptionoffrozensoilsbasedonvisualexaminationandsimplemanualtests.1.2ItisintendedtobeusedinconjunctionwithTestMethodD2487andPracticeD2488,whichdescribeandclassifysoils,butdonotcovertheirfrozenstate.1.3Thisprocedureisbasedon"GuidetoFieldDescriptionofPermafrostforEngineeringPurposes,"NationalResearchCouncilofCanada,1963,andMIL-STD-619.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5Thispracticeoffersasetofinstructionsforperformingoneormorespecificoperations.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthispracticemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
